Harmony Hill

This was my first digester in California where I have visited quite a bit for the last 7 years.  I built this for my friend, Justin Calvino, at his property near Medocino, CA.  I did several things differently with this digester.  First, I used bulkheads instead of uniseals for a few pipe fittings (except the 3 inch pipe).  I'm happy about this change.  The bulkheads were not that much more expensive than the uniseals--only 7 or 8 bucks.  Second, I connected the digester to the toilet!  Most people shy away from this but I was really intereste to see if adding toilet waste to the digester would increase the gase at all.  Maybe not much but I think its worth trying to create a fully closed loop in your home.  Finally, I set up my first waste hot water heat exchanger system.  This basically took all the waste hot water from the shower and sink and ran it through 100 feet of pex tube heat exchanger in the digester.  Assuming the hot water is still at 80 or 90 degrees when it goes down the drain, it should be suffecient to heat the tank up to 30 C.
